James O'Brien has litigated cases for over 20 years. He became a partner at a multi-state west coast litigation firm, focusing on civil litigation and estate planning. He subsequently worked at a trust and wills litigation firm litigating multimillion dollar estate cases prior to pursuing his own practice. As a trust and wills litigator, he sees first hand the mistakes made in drafting and administering trusts and wills, as well as the often dire consequences of those mistakes.
Unlike many attorneys who leave large law firms to pursue their own general legal practice, Jim specializes in estate planning, probate and trust litigation. Within his practice, he has also developed an expertise in assisting clients with Special Needs Trust issues.
His education includes a degree in Law and an MBA from the University of San Francisco and LLM in Tax, with an emphasis in estate planning, from Golden Gate University.
He is admitted to the California and Oregon State Bars and has practiced law in all Bay Area State Superior and Federal District courts.
When Jim is not practicing law he is involved, as President, of an urban outreach at-risk youth organization.
